Process of editing

This is in our specialized media room for editing our trailer.

Here I am using my own mac computer and two school computers connected between both.

At that moment I was using a gram in the class computer called 'Pinnacle'.

Pinnacle is the last program that I found searching but also the one that I used for the edition of the majority of the scenes. 

I found this program really good and complicated at the beginning. But it is really completed. I found a disadvantage, sometimes when you are a lot of time editing and importing things, the program gets saturated and it starts to go slowly. You need to close and open the program or turn off and on the computer, making sure that you saved all your work, so you can open it after.

This picture of the right hand shows the first editing program that I found at the beginning of my searching. It is called 'Wonder Share'

I installed this program in my computer, the problem is that it is only compatible with mac.

By the other hand another drawback is that after editing your video if you want to export it you need to pay, otherwise your video will be exported but with a water mark.

The one that is bellow, it is called 'Movavi'.

This program it is also for mac, like the one above and it is the second one that I found in my research. The difference between both programs is that for this one I needed to pay so it is better.

It is very similar to pinnacle, but I found this one easier to use and also very complete and interesting.

This is the reason why I also used this program at the same time that I used pinnacle.

The fact of having this program downloaded in my computer is that I can work on my trailer also at home.😊

Today we have started creating our website. We have used wix. At first this website was a bit complicated for me, because I got confused with the editing system but at the end as in other cases throughout this project I got used to it.

Promoting our movie

Today we have been creating an email, a facebook page and an instagram to promote our movie.

To make it all easier for us to remember, we have used the same e-mail and the same password for all three things.

The truth is that we did not have to eat a lot our head because we decided to put the name of our studio as a user and the theme 'media studies' as a password.

School trip to the radio (onda cero)

Today we did not have classes of media studies because we went to the centre of jerez to visit the radio. Leonardo Galán explained us how the studio works and then they made some publicity recordings.

I have to say that since we were there they treat us really good and also they made us feel like real professionals.

I am really happy with this experience and I am very thanks to my media studies teacher and to my school for offering us this opportunity that not everyone can have in their lives.

I hope to be lucky and go again because I enjoy a lot this day!!!!!

Music

Today I am going to talk about the music that we have chose for our first and the second trailer.

First Trailer

At the beggining the decided to start with a song called 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You' of Meghan Trainor.

At the end of the trailer we swop this music with a more dramatic and intriguing one that it is called 'Ash' of Secession Studios.

Second Trailer

A dramatic piano music perfect for the begginning of our trailer. We wanted a music that transmitt to the audience the sadness and also that make them feel the intrigue. This music was the perfect one for us .

We used this music but only a small part of the center of the video, because it is the most appropiate part. We introduce the piece of music choosed just from the accident up to the scene in the hospital.

The last and the one which I most like it is called 'only you' Joshua Radin.

This song it is very romantic and fits at the perfection with the romantic scenes that are in our trailer.

We are very happy about what we get using this song.

Analysis of my poster

After a long research on the internet, taking some references about different posters I finally feel prepared for making my own analysis.

At the beggining I started looking other posters and taking some ideas but when I had enough time editing in prezi I realized that it is my poster so I should have my own ideas and points of views.

Inspiration poster and analysis

This poster is from the movie called 'Dear John'
It has been my inspiration for my poster.

It is true that the designed is not very similar to mine because the colors of the letters play with similar tones and in my poster I risk the fonts.

Analysis of The Vow poster

This poster called The Vow has interesting things to comment.

First I would like to talk about the title of the movie.
We see that the word 'Vow' is white and the word 'The' is in clear yellow. What can be said about that detail?

Well, to start I would like to highlight the word vow, that word that symbolizes purity, and for that reason it is in white.

Below the title is the following phrase: 'inspired by true events'

This phrase is just below the title with the idea of making the audience  fall into the temptation of reading the short sentence when reading the title.

This little sentence may incite the public to see the full movie

The public usually likes this type of film because they usually feel identified with real events. Due to the fact of being more realistic.

At the top of the poster are the names of the characters in capital letters with a simple font and a light color but contrasting with the photo.

The most striking and the biggest focus of attention for the public is the photo, the image of the couple. They are both looking happy and in love. And is still more outstanding because the background aside from not being attractive is blurry, which means that the public do not pay attention to that.
Again there is something related to the commitment, and smart people will have realized that it is because she is wearing a white t-shirt.

Now, comment on the least attractive aspect of the poster since it is difficult to read the white words at the bottom of the poster. This contains the name of the director, and people who have contributed to the production. It is not very important but there are people who are interested in knowing names.

Finally, the yellow sentence which says; 'In cinemas FEB 10' to let know to the audience when and where you can see the movie.

Analysis of Dear John poster

I have chosen this poster because it is romantic drama like mine and I thought that it would be good to do one of the same genre to practice so that I find it easier to analyze mine.

My final decision

This is my final film poster.

After printing the posters we liked the most, print them and make a vote among the students of my school finally we have a clear idea of which of the posters is going to be selected to represent our drama romantic trailer.

Most of the people which I ask which poster do they prefere the mayority decide the most voted one. 

It is true that many people, family, friends, teachers, students.. told me that the other poster looks more a magagazine intead of a front cover of a drama romantic movie but it was true that it was really good and we did a very good job.

The two posters were exposed to the students of different courses during two days.
The process of voting consist in putting a cross on the paper that contains the poster of their choice with one of the four highlighters that were available.

The decision of choosing the right hand poster of the page has been a decision totally based on the tastes of the public and our group.

As I am the protagonist of the trailer, because I am the one that appears on the poster and that should influence when making a decision. 

But it is true that I have not focus my attention on my appearance, whether I look good or bad . The picture of the selected poster is not the one I like most, but for my trailer it is the one that fits better. 

Many people have asked me the reason why if it is a romantic drama trailer both characters appears smiling on the poster.

After having created it and after having listened to the critics of the public I have realized how an small detail like that can be quite significant.
Now, every time that people ask me, I answer that my poster do not have to transmitt drama. My poster seeks to mislead the public but at the same time transmit nostalgia. He has his arm above her, and that may make the public believe that he is comforting her.

These are the three posters that I made in the Rynansoft program that I installed in the class computer.

Working on our poster

As well as creating two trailers for a new movie and creating a website, we have to design a poster for our movie.

In order to have an idea about how are the posters designed in the film industry what me and me team are going to do is to carry out some research on film posters related to our genre romantic-drama.

After a long search in the internet about the existence of some program or online page specialized in editing posters of films I at the end found one called posterini.

At the beginning I found posterini a bit difficult to use and that is why after having found this webpage I did not stopped searching to find a different one.

I had forgotten to say that before searching I was interested in finding out a program to install on my computer, before making the work online.The truth is that because my laptop was a mac it was hard to find a program to install compatible with apple and not with softonic. 

With posterini I made two posters, one better than the other because it was the first time that I was creating a film poster but also I was a begginer using such online page.

Posterini was good at first, but when I started using it well I realized that it was a bit simple and that to improve it you had to pay.

Already knowing a little more and after having done some practice in one of the web pages that google offers us to implement this work I started to carry out a more profound and professional investigation, and for that I turned to my media teacher to ask him for a windows computer that let me install the last program I uses which is called Ronyasoft. In this program, I have managed to create three of my four posters. The one  that is missing was made in posterini and you can see how it has no comparison with those of ronyasoft.

As I said in previous lines, in posterini I made two posters. I have already posted one and the second although it seems better than the first one, I have not selected it as one of the four because it is the same photo that I use in ronyasoft with a best one.

History of film poster

A film poster has the purpose of promoting and advertising a film. Studios often print several posters that vary in size and content for various domestic and international markets. They normally contain an image with text. Today's posters often feature photographs of the main actors. Prior to the 1990s, illustrations instead of photos were far more common. The text on film posters usually contains the film title in large lettering and often the names of the main actors. It may also include a tagline, the name of the director, names of characters, the release date, etc.

Film posters are displayed inside and on the outside of movie theaters, and elsewhere on the street or in shops. The same images appear in the film exhibitor's pressbook and may also be used on websites, DVD (and historically VHS) packaging, flyers, advertisements in newspapers and magazines, etc.

Film posters have been used since the earliest public exhibitions of film. They began as outside placards listing the programme of (short) films to be shown inside the hall or movie theater. By the early 1900s, they began to feature illistrations of a film scene or an array of overlaid images from several scenes. Other posters have used artistic interpretations of a scene or even the theme of the film, represented in a wide variety of artistic styles.

Types of film posters

• Character posters would feature the main character or characters. These posters only reveal subtle information about the character in terms of mise-en-scene and the body gestures.

• Teaser posters, promotional film poster, containing a basic image or design without revealing too much information such as the plot, theme and characters. These posters only reveal the release date and maybe a sentence from the movie.

• Main poster reveals the release cinema date of the movie and maybe a little bit of information about the movie.

Problems filming

We faced a serie of problems the weekend that we were going film because it started raining.
The weather in general did not wanted to accompany us. When it did not rain it was cloudy and all wet or very cold.

We thought it would be a good idea to take advantage and record as if it were really raining in the trailer. But everything was complicated because we had a small problem with one of the objectives of the camera that got a bit wet and we had to change it.

Also have to say that the scenes that we planned to record the weekend that rain was not easy and required patience in addition to good weather since it was in a boat that was on a pontoon.

Meeting for filming

Today we had a meeting all the members of the group to decide when are we going to film.
At the beggining we found some problems like:

• Leti is from a different city, so it was all more complicated 
• That we can all the members of the group on the same day
• Talk with the outside characters to ask them if they are free to make us the favour of appearing in our trailer

At the end I offered Leti to stay in my house all the days that we are going to film.

From my point of view, I think that the problems that we need to face are not very big problems. 

Putting some effort and a bit of us each, we can do what we want and like we want.

Hospital! Lucky us!

We wanted to film at the hospital but we did not know how to go there. Suddenly, one of the member of the team got sick and we took advantage of this opportunity to film at the hospital.
Everything happened too fast so we did not have enough time to carry the material.
I recorded some video with the phone but at the end we did not used it for being an scene in the trailer.
We were in the hospital for about three hours and I had to stay with the patient taking care of her almost the three hours, because I was her only company.
Here you can see one of the videos that I did with my phone.

I took this day to ask if it was possible to come another day and record the hospital inside and an ambulance arriving.

Thanks to this day, when I went later to record the hospital I found it easier to ask and to film.

Lighting

Today in this post about lighting I will define the term, mention some of the different types and finally in reference to my trailer.

The key light is one of the most important lights that cameraman uses. Its main function is to highlight the main objects.

Usually, in the back lighting the light is placed behind the subject to illuminate it, creating a silhouette effect, or to create separation of the subject and background, or to create depth between characters of objects.

The most common ones are high and low key lighting.

High key lighting reduces the amount of contrast because of such strong lighting, over-lights the subject to reduce contrast and feels airy and light.

A low key lighting always have dark tones and colours. It used to transmit drama and mystery.

Black and white are very common combination of colours on pictures with scarcity of light.

My group and I will make a romantic/drama trailer so we will consider both types of lighting through the process of filming. But it is true that because of the genre and the argument of the trailer,  high key lighting will appear more rather than low key lighting.
