My decision

After some discussion with my group we have decided to make a romantic and dramatic trailer.

It has not been a very difficult task because last year we had to do a fiction movie so today we have some ideas about other type of genre.

This type of genre is usually quieter than others and even more if you mix it with drama and that is one of the reasons why we choose it. But this does not mean that we don't like other types of genres

My teacher

This is my media studies teacher.

I have been his student since I started with this subject.

From the first time that he taught us I knew that he was going to be a great teacher and also that he was going to make us learn a lot of different things about other topics.

Last year we changed the subject that he was teaching us in secondary and we started with the one which we are continuing right now, media studies.

I know that he is an excellent teacher because last year he did really well with us and he helped us a lot with the theory and also with the As blog like he is doing now with the A-level portfolio.

Well I have a lot of things to thanks him for, eg, for being so patient and motivating us each day more. Giving us his vote of confidence and saying that we all can because we are very clever and we are prepared.

I think that I am not the only one that thinks like me or similar.

The idea of including our teacher in my blog was not something that he told us to do, it is something that my friend and I decided to give him a surprise due to the all effort that he is making with us during this course and the other years.

MY TEAM

We are three members in my team. I know them because we have been studying together for a long time. 

Our relationship is not just professional, I used to hang out with them outside school.

We love to always be together and confronting any problem as a team.

This year we will used the same method that we used last year.

The different tasks were assigned to each member according to their abilities. (ones were better in organisation, others in communication...etc)

This wasn't so hard as we were coordinated and organised with every decision.

As each of us was good in something, the overall result was better because we joined all our qualities and ideas to complete the work.

This is something that not everyone can say because not always are you faced with such a team.

From last year I learnt more about the advantages and disadvantages of doing a project alone or with more people.

I realized other points of views different to my perspectives.

Greater efficacy, efficiency, security and confidence at work.

But also some lack of cooperation and instability of ideas.

But never egoism or disloyalty from any member.

I think my group and I are going to do a great job this year because we all are pretty motivated with this subject and we will have all well organized.

RESEARCH ON FILM GENRES

As my main task for this year is to create two trailers for a new film. Today my group and I have been investigating about different film genres. After this investigation the idea is to decide which genre we are going to use for our movie. Here is my study of films genres:



Action 

One or more heroes are thrust into a series of challenges that typically include physical feats ,extended fight scenes, violence, and frantic chases.










Adventure

The subgenres of adventure films include: swashbuckler film,disaster films, and historical dramas.










Comedy

Uses humour as a driving force. The aim of a comedy film is to illicit laughter from the audience through entertaining stories and characters. Although the comedy film may take on some serious material, most have a happy ending. Comedy film has the tendency to become a hybrid sub-genre because humour can be incorporated into many other genres. Comedies are more likely than other films to fall back on the success and popularity of an individual star.









Drama

Depends mostly on in-depth development of realistic characters dealing with emotional themes. Dramatic themes such as alcoholism, child abuse, drug addiction, infidelity, moral dilemmas, racial prejudice, religious intolerance, sexuality, poverty, class divisions, violence against, women and corruption put the characters in conflict with themselves, others, society and even natural phenomena. Drama is one of the broadest movie genres and includes subgenres such as romantic drama, war films, sport films, period drama, courtroom drama and crime.

Horror

Is a film genre seeking to elicit a negative emotional reaction from viewers by playing on the audience's primal fears. Horror films have, for more than a century, featured scenes that startle the viewer. The macabre and the supernatural are frequent themes, and may overlap with the fantasy, supernatural fiction and thriller genres.

Musicals

This type of genre is usually related to films of romantic genre.

There are usually many scenes of actors singing and there is much use of music instruments.

Science-fiction

Is a film genre that uses science fiction: speculative, fictional science-based depictions of phenomena that are not fully accepted by mainstream science, such as extraterrestrial life forms, alien worlds, extrasensory perception and time travel, along with futuristic elements such as spacecraft, robots, cyborgs, interstellar space travel or other technologies. Science fiction films have often been used to focus on political or social issues, and to explore philosophical issues like the human condition.




War

Is a film genre concerned with warfare, typically about naval, air, or land battles in the twentieth century, with combat scenes central to the drama. The fateful nature of battle scenes means that war films often end with them. Themes explored include combat, survival and escape, sacrifice, the futility and inhumanity of battle, the effects of war on society, and the moral and human issues raised by war.






Western

Is a genre of various arts, such as comics, fiction, film, games, radio, and television. Westerns are devoted to telling stories set primarily in the later half of the 19th century in the American old west, hence the name. Many feature American Indians, bandits, cowboys, lawmen, outlaws, and soldiers, and as well as spectacular mountain scenery.

Fiction 

Is a film that tells a fictional or fictionalized story, event or narrative. In this style of film, believable narratives and characters help convince the audience that the unfolding fiction is real. Lighting and camera movement, among other cinematic elements, have become increasingly important in these films. Great detail goes into the screenplays of narratives, as these films rarely deviate from the predetermined behaviours and lines of the screenplays to maintain a sense of realism. Actors must deliver dialogue and action in a believable way, so as to persuade the audience that the film is real life. For example:

WELCOME TO MY A2 MEDIA BLOG!!!!!! Today I'm starting a new blog where I will keep posting all my work this year.

Now I'm in year 13 and I will focus my blog with a new task that involves to design a promotion package for a new film, where I will have to include two trailers, together with a website for the film and a poster for the film.

This year I am happy with the length of the movie because last year the truth is that we had to cut many scenes because the movie had to last for two minutes maximum.

I have to admit that last year when we were told we had to do the opening sequence of a fiction movie I seemed a fairly easy task. During the filming process I had plenty of time to realize that it was more complicated than I thought. Nowadays, I feel that I have more experience in recording and editing techniques.

Obviously we now have a base upon the subject and more experience and references. To start a similar new task already we know the faults we've had and we are more prepared for them.

Now that I realized all my old mistakes which I would like to improve this year, in this new task I will make a better trailer taking in mind all what we did not do last year. First, I need more original shots and angles. Personally I think that we have to see more different perspectives split a bit more our minds and use a lot our imagination.

This year we will be almost the same group of last time,we all agree with the genre and with the team members so we don't have any problem. Instead of four, this time we will be three, is true that means dividing the different tasks equally between less people making that each of us works on whatever more than last year and have more responsibility. But also if we are a lot, maybe we don't have many different tasks for each person so it will become unfair and the one that really works on something can start to feel like if she or he works for another person.

Well, last year I remember that it was so difficult to choose a date to run out the movie and that we had a lot of team discussions during that process, this year we know so we will try to avoid the same mistake.

WE LEARN FROM MISTAKES!!!!! this is my phrase for today, to start my A-level blog with a positive statement.
